Metronome Guide
BPM & Tempo
The large number shows the current tempo in beats per minute. Expand the Tempo section to adjust it with a slider (30–300 BPM).
Tap Tempo
Click 'Tap Tempo' then click the TAP button or press any key repeatedly to the beat. BPM is calculated after 3 taps. The confidence bar shows how steady your tapping is. Click 'Apply' or 'Cancel' when done.
Rhythm Patterns
Enable 'Pattern' to play rhythmic accompaniment instead of a simple click. Choose a musical family — Irish, Breton, Scottish, English, Cajun, Canadian, American, or World for klezmer, Balkan odd metres, Latin, reggae, afrobeat and Nordic patterns — then a style (Reel, Jig, Polka…), and a session mode: Pulse (basic downbeats), Session (A/B variations), or Groove (fills and pickups). Adjust phrase length to match your tune.
Instruments & Mix
Select one or more percussion instruments (Bodhrán, Spoons, Foot Stomp…). Each plays the same pattern simultaneously. Use the tune icon to adjust per-instrument volume and reverb send.
Basic Metronome
Even without rhythm patterns, the metronome provides a reliable click track. It plays a distinct accent on the first beat of each measure and regular clicks on the remaining beats — perfect for practicing scales, sight-reading, or any exercise where a simple, steady pulse is all you need.
Time Signature & Accent
Choose a common time signature or enter a custom one (e.g. 7/8). Adjust accent strength to emphasize the first beat. Use tempo presets (Largo to Presto) for quick BPM selection.
Tune Tempo Presets
When a rhythm pattern is active, five tune-specific tempo shortcuts appear in the Tempo section: Very Slow (~40 % of session speed, for very difficult passages or absolute beginners), Slow (~55 % — for first learning), Practice (~70 %), Near (~85 %), and Session (100 % — the standard speed for that style). All values are automatically adapted to the selected beat unit (quarter note, half note, dotted quarter…). Click any button to instantly set the BPM.
Tempo Progression
Automatically increase the BPM after a set number of bars. Enable the section, choose how many bars to play before each step (1–32), and set the increment size (1–20 BPM). While running, a progress bar shows how many bars remain before the next increase. The BPM rises on the downbeat of the following bar, keeping the transition musically clean. Stop the metronome to reset the progression.
Start / Stop
Press the green button to start the metronome. Press the red button to stop it.
